Transfer a profile to someone else

Updated June 8, 2026

You can hand a profile, and everything in it, to another NoTrouble user. They get an email, they pick which of their accounts receives it, and the move happens once they say yes. You stay in control until then, so you can cancel any time. It's no trouble.

Before you start

You need to be the owner of the account that holds this profile. Only the owner can start a transfer. If you were invited as a collaborator, you won't see the option.

A few things to know first:

  • The person you're sending to must already have a NoTrouble account. They sign up with their own email, the same way you did.
  • When they accept, the whole profile moves to them. That means every section, post, form, custom domain, and automation goes too.
  • Once they accept, you're removed from the profile. So is anyone you shared it with.

How do I give my profile to another person?

  1. Open the profile, then choose the Settings tab.
  2. Scroll to the Transfer Ownership box near the bottom.
  3. Select Transfer profile….
  4. In the Recipient email box, type the email of the person who should get it.
  5. Select Send transfer request.

You'll see a "Transfer request sent" message, and the page now shows the pending request. We email the recipient a link to review it.

Why does it say there's no NoTrouble account for that email?

You'll see this note: "No NoTrouble account uses that email yet. Ask them to sign up first."

It means no one has signed up with that exact email. A transfer can only go to an existing NoTrouble user, so we can't send it to a stranger.

Here's how to sort it out:

  • Check the spelling. One wrong letter sends it nowhere. Confirm the address with them.
  • Ask which email they used. They may have signed up with a different one, like a work address.
  • Have them sign up. If they're new, ask them to create an account first, then try again with that email.

A couple of other notes you might hit:

  • "You cannot transfer a profile to yourself." The email you typed is your own. Use the new owner's email instead.
  • "A transfer is already pending for this profile. Cancel it first." One transfer can be open at a time. Cancel the current one (see below), then start a new one.

How does the other person accept the transfer?

Once you send the request, the rest is on them. Here's what they do:

  1. They get an email titled "You've been offered" your profile, with a Review transfer button.
  2. The button opens a page that lists what they're getting and what changes.
  3. If they own more than one account, they pick which one receives the profile.
  4. They select Accept transfer.

When they accept, the profile and all its content move into their account right away. You're removed from it, and we email you to say the transfer is complete. If they'd rather not take it, they can select Decline, and we'll let you know.

One thing for them to know: if their account is already at its profile limit, they'll need to upgrade their plan before they can accept.

How long does a transfer request last before it expires?

A transfer link lasts 7 days. If the recipient doesn't accept or decline in that time, the request expires on its own and the profile stays yours. We email both of you when that happens.

If it expires and you still want to move the profile, start a fresh transfer. The new request resets the 7-day clock.

How do I cancel a transfer I already started?

As long as the recipient hasn't accepted yet, you can call it off:

  1. Open the profile, then choose the Settings tab.
  2. Select Transfer profile… to open the transfer page.
  3. You'll see the Transfer pending card. Select Cancel transfer.
  4. Confirm when asked.

You'll see a "Transfer cancelled" message, and the profile goes back to normal. We let the recipient know the offer is off, so the link they got no longer works.

While a transfer is pending, the profile is still fully yours. Sending the request doesn't hand anything over. Nothing moves until the other person accepts.

Can I get my profile back after it transfers?

Not on your own. Once the recipient accepts, they own the profile, and you're removed from it. There's no undo button on your side.

To get it back, the new owner would have to transfer it to you, the same way you sent it to them. That's why it's worth a quick check before you send: confirm you've got the right email, and that you really mean to let go of the profile. Up to the moment they accept, you can cancel and keep it.
