Change your handle (your profile's web address)

Updated June 8, 2026

Your handle is the part of your web address that names your profile. With a handle of jordan, your profile lives at jordan.notrouble.com. You can change it whenever you like, and we'll walk you through it. It's no trouble.

Before you start

You need to own the profile you're changing. One thing to know up front: when you change your handle, your old address stops working. Anyone using your old link, like a printed card or an older post, will need the new one. So pick a handle you're happy to keep.

Changing your handle

  1. Open your profile's settings. From your profiles list, open the profile, then choose the Settings tab.
  2. Find the Handle box near the top.
  3. Type your new handle. Use letters, numbers, dashes, and underscores only.
  4. Choose Save changes at the bottom of the page.

You'll see a message that your settings were saved. Your profile now lives at the new address, your-new-handle.notrouble.com.

What you can use in a handle

A handle can only contain:

  • Letters (a to z)
  • Numbers (0 to 9)
  • Dashes ( - )
  • Underscores ( _ )

No spaces, dots, or other symbols. If you want a space, use a dash instead, like jordan-lee.

My handle won't save

The page won't save while the handle isn't allowed. Here's what each case means:

  • It has characters that aren't allowed. Stick to letters, numbers, dashes, and underscores. Take out spaces or symbols and try again.
  • It's already taken. You'll see a note that the handle has already been taken. Handles are one-of-a-kind, so two profiles can't share one. Try another, like adding a word or number.
  • It's a reserved word. Some handles are kept for the system, like app, help, admin, support, blog, and login. Pick a different one.

Fix the Handle box, then choose Save changes again.

Will my old links still work?

No. Once you change your handle, your old notrouble.com address stops pointing to your profile. Any link you shared before, like in a bio or on a card, won't reach you anymore.

After you change it, update your handle anywhere you've shared it. If you need a web address that never changes when your handle does, a custom domain is a better fit.

Can I change my handle back later?

Yes, as long as no one else has claimed it in the meantime. Handles are first come, first served, so if you free one up and someone takes it, it's gone. If you think you might switch back, it's safest not to change it in the first place.
