My edits aren't showing, or I lost my work

You changed your profile, but visitors still see the old page. Or you closed the tab and your work seems gone. Or you're not sure which save button to press. This walks you through each of those. Most of the time your work is fine, and it's no trouble.

Why visitors still see my old profile

Your edits don't go live the moment you make them. Visitors keep seeing your last published version until you publish again. So if you've been editing in the Designer and nothing changed for visitors, your work is most likely saved but not yet live.

To push it live, open your profile in the Designer and select Publish changes in the top right corner. When the button reads Published with a checkmark, you're up to date. When it reads Publish changes, you have edits that visitors can't see yet. For the full walkthrough, see publishing your profile and saving drafts.

The Publish button stays lit even though I didn't change anything

A new photo can do this. When you swap your avatar, cover, or logo, that image waits to be saved along with your next publish. So the button shows Publish changes even when the rest of the page looks the same as before.

This is normal. Select Publish changes to save the image and push it live, and the button settles back to Published.

I published but I still see the old version myself

If visitors see your new profile but you don't, your own browser is showing you a saved copy of the page. Reload it with a hard refresh: hold Shift and select your browser's reload button, or press Ctrl + Shift + R (on a Mac, Cmd + Shift + R). That fetches the fresh version.

Opening your profile in a private or incognito window is another quick way to see exactly what visitors get.

I closed the tab and lost my edits

Some of your work saves on its own. As you edit in the Designer, we save your bio, your links, your action button, and your design (colors, fonts, style, and layout) a few seconds after you stop typing. That part survives a closed tab.

What does not save on its own is your work inside a section or a post while you're editing it in the Designer. Those edits live only in your open editing session. To keep them, you must select Publish changes before you close the tab or refresh. Save as draft does not keep in-progress section or post edits. Only Publish changes does. If you close the tab or refresh before you publish, that section or post work is gone, and there's no way to bring it back.

This is why the Designer warns you. If you try to close the tab, refresh, or leave the page with unsaved edits, your browser asks "You have unsaved changes. Leave anyway?" Choose to stay, then select Publish changes before you go.

Getting your closed-tab work back

The work the Designer saved on its own (your bio, links, action button, and design) comes back the next time you publish. Open your profile in the Designer and select Publish changes. Your autosaved edits ride along and go live.

If you'd rather look the autosaved edits over before they go live, you can review them first:

1. Open your profile in the Designer.
2. Select the small arrow next to the Publish button to open its menu.
3. Choose Drafts & history…, then open the Pending review tab.
4. Your autosaved edits appear there as a pending batch. Review them, then publish when you're ready.

Note that the closed-tab work shows on the Pending review tab, not the Your draft tab. The Your draft tab only holds a draft you saved yourself with Save as draft (see below).

Getting a saved draft back

If you used Save as draft earlier, that draft is waiting for you on its own tab.

1. Open your profile in the Designer.
2. Select the small arrow next to the Publish button, then choose Drafts & history….
3. On the Your draft tab, choose Resume editing. Your saved bio, links, action button, and design changes load back into the editor. You'll see "Draft loaded into editor."
4. Keep editing, then publish when you're ready.

A saved draft covers your bio, links, action button, and design. It doesn't carry section or post edits, so those still need to be published before you close the tab.

Rolling back to an earlier published version

Every time you publish, we save a snapshot. If a recent change went wrong, you can go back to how your profile looked before.

1. Open the Designer, open the Publish menu, and choose Drafts & history….
2. Select the History tab. You'll see a list of past versions with their dates.
3. Find the version you want and choose Restore as draft. That loads it as a fresh draft, so your live profile doesn't change yet.
4. Review it in the editor, then select Publish to make it live.

If you don't see any versions yet, that's because each Publish creates the first snapshot. Once you've published a few times, your history fills in.

Which button keeps my work

A few controls in the Publish area sound alike. Here's what each one does, so you reach for the right one:

• Publish profile / Publish changes (the main button in the top right) saves your edits and makes them live for visitors. This is the only control that keeps in-progress section and post edits. Use it when you're ready to show your work.
• Save as draft (in the Publish menu) saves your bio, links, action button, and design without going live. It does not keep section or post edits. Use it to step away mid-edit while keeping your live profile as it is. You'll see "Draft saved."
• Resume editing (on the Your draft tab) loads a saved draft back into the editor so you can keep working. It isn't a save button, and it doesn't change your live profile.
• Review pending changes (in the Publish menu, marked with an amber dot) opens a review panel. It isn't a save button. It usually holds proposals an AI assistant made for you, but it can also hold your own autosaved edits after a closed tab. You decide what to publish, and nothing there goes live until you approve it.

None of these delete your live profile.

I'm editing a post on its own page, not in the Designer

You can also open a single post or section on its own page. That page works differently from the Designer: it has its own Save Changes button, and your edits save straight to that post or section when you select it.

That page warns you too. If you try to leave with unsaved edits, you'll see "You have unsaved changes. Discard them?" Choose to stay and select Save Changes first.
