Change your password or account email
Updated June 8, 2026
While you're signed in, you can change your password or the email address on your account. Your password lives on the Security page. Your email lives on the General page. Both take a moment. It's no trouble.
This article is for people who are already signed in. If you're locked out and can't remember your password, read reset a forgotten password instead.
Changing your password
- Sign in to your account.
- Open your account's Security tab.
- In the Current Password field, type the password you use now.
- In the New Password field, type the new one (the rules are below).
- Select Update Password.
Your password changes right away. For your safety, we also sign you out on your other devices, so you'll sign in again there with the new password.
What makes a valid password
Your new password must:
- Be at least 8 characters long
- Include both an uppercase and a lowercase letter
- Include at least one number
A longer password is always safer. Adding a symbol is fine, though it isn't required.
The current password doesn't match
You'll see "The provided password does not match your current password." This means the value in Current Password is wrong.
Type your current password again, slowly. If you truly can't remember it, sign out and use the forgot-password flow. Read the article on resetting a forgotten password for the steps.
Changing the email on your account
Your email is what you sign in with and where we send notices. You can change it from the General tab.
- Sign in and open your account settings.
- Go to the General tab.
- In the Email field, type your new address.
- Select Save.
Your new address isn't live yet. We send a confirmation link to the new email to make sure it's really yours.
Confirming a new email address
After you save a new email, look for an Awaiting verification badge next to it on the General page. That badge shows the address is pending.
Open the inbox for the new address and select the confirmation link we sent. Once you do, the new email becomes the one you sign in with. Until then, your old email still works.
If you change your mind, select Cancel next to the pending address to drop the change.
That email is already taken
You'll see a note that the email is already in use. Each address can belong to only one NoTrouble account.
Pick a different address that isn't tied to another account, then select Save again.
I changed my email but can't sign in with it
Until you open the confirmation link, the new address isn't active. Keep using your old email to sign in for now.
Open the confirmation email sent to the new address and select the link. After that, the new email works. If the email didn't arrive, check your spam folder and confirm you typed the address correctly.
What's normal here
It's normal for a new email to sit as Awaiting verification until you confirm it. Your old email keeps working the whole time, so you're never locked out.
It's also normal to be signed out of your other devices after a password change. That's a safety step, not a glitch.
