While you design, we show a live preview of your profile so you always know how it looks. You can check it on different device sizes, undo a change you don't like, or reset the whole design back to its starting point. Nothing is public until you publish.
Before you start
These tools live in the Designer, the panel where you change how your profile looks. You need a profile already made. Open it and select Edit In Designer to begin.
Seeing the live preview
The large area to the right of the sidebar is your live preview. Every change you make to your style, colors, layout, fonts, or images shows up there right away. It's a real view of your profile, not a separate mock-up.
Checking your profile on phones and tablets
Most visitors will see your profile on a phone, so it's worth checking the smaller sizes.
- In the top toolbar, find the device buttons.
- Select Mobile, Tablet, or Desktop.
The preview resizes to match that device. Switch between them to make sure your text, images, and spacing read well on each one.
Opening a full-page preview
The live preview sits next to your design controls. To see your profile on its own, full width, use the Preview button.
- In the top toolbar, select Preview.
- Your profile opens in a new browser tab, the way a visitor will see it.
This preview shows your latest saved work, including design changes you haven't published yet. It opens even while your profile is private. A bar across the top reminds you the page isn't published, so only you can see it. Select Back to editor in that bar to return.
Undoing and redoing a change
Made a change you don't like? You don't have to fix it by hand.
- In the top toolbar, select the back-arrow button to Undo your last change.
- Select the forward-arrow button to Redo it.
Undo steps back through your recent changes one at a time, so you can walk back several steps if you need to.
Resetting your design to defaults
If you want to start the look over from scratch, you can reset it.
- Scroll to the bottom of the left sidebar.
- Select Reset to defaults.
This returns your style, colors, fonts, and layout to their starting values. Your content (your sections, posts, and links) is not touched, only the design. If the reset wasn't what you wanted, select Undo in the top toolbar right after.
Saving or publishing your work
A reset, like any other change, stays a preview until you publish.
- Select Publish profile (or Publish changes) in the top toolbar to make your current design live.
- Or open the toolbar's save menu and select Save as draft to keep your edits private for now.
My live profile looks different from my preview
Both the live preview and the Preview button show your latest saved work, including design changes you haven't published. Your live profile shows only what you've published. So if your public page looks a step behind, you have changes waiting. Select Publish changes to bring your live profile in line, or Save as draft to hold the edits for later.
I reset my design by accident
No harm done if you act before leaving. Select Undo in the top toolbar right after the reset to bring your design back. Your content was never affected by the reset, only the look. If you've already published the reset, you can roll back: open the save menu, select Drafts & history, and restore an earlier version.
My changes didn't save
Take a breath, your design work is caught for you. As you change your style, colors, fonts, or layout, the Designer autosaves a snapshot a few seconds after you stop. So if you closed the tab without publishing, those design edits aren't lost.
The next time you open your profile in the Designer, it can offer them back. Open the save menu and select Drafts & history. If unsaved design changes are waiting, you'll see an Unsaved changes from... panel with a Restore button. Select it to load them back in. Restored changes are still a preview, so select Publish changes when you're happy to make them live.
That offer only shows up when the saved changes differ from what's already on your profile, and only until you dismiss them (there's a Dismiss button in that same panel) or replace them with newer edits. For the full walk-through, including work inside a section or post, see recover your unsaved work.
