Choose a layout for your profile
Updated June 8, 2026
A layout sets how your profile is arranged on the screen: where your cover sits, how your avatar and name appear, and how your content flows below. We give you six to choose from. The preview updates as you switch, and nothing goes live until you publish.
Before you start
Layouts live in the Designer, the panel where you change how your profile looks. You need a profile already made. If you don't have one, read get started with NoTrouble first.
Opening the layout picker
- Open your profile.
- Select Edit In Designer.
- In the left sidebar, select Theme.
The Theme panel opens with a row of layout previews you can scroll through.
Picking a layout
- In the Theme panel, scroll the layout previews left or right.
- Stop on the one you want; it snaps into place and applies.
The main preview repaints so you can see your profile in the new layout. Here's what each one does:
- Foundation: the classic top-to-bottom layout: avatar, name, bio, then your sections below. The most flexible choice.
- Spotlight: a full-screen cover stays put while the rest of the page scrolls over it. Your avatar and name sit centred.
- Billboard: a large cover fills the first screen, with your profile resting at the bottom of it.
- Stack: two columns: your profile pinned in a sidebar on the left, your content on the right.
- Horizon: the cover spans the top and fades into the background, with your profile overlapping up from below it.
- Bookmark: like Horizon, but your content is sorted into tabs so visitors can browse by topic.
Saving your layout
Your new layout is a preview until you publish it.
- Select Publish profile (or Publish changes) in the top toolbar to go live.
- Or open the toolbar's save menu and select Save as draft to keep the change private for now.
My cover image disappeared after switching layouts
Some layouts lean on a cover image more than others. If your new layout looks bare, you may not have a cover set yet. Add one and it'll fill the space. See add and adjust your avatar and cover image.
My content looks cramped in the Stack layout
Stack puts your profile in a narrow sidebar, so long names or bios can feel tight on smaller screens. Switch your preview to a wider device size in the top toolbar to see how it reads, or try a top-to-bottom layout like Foundation if you have a lot of content. See preview your design and reset to defaults.
The layout didn't change in the preview
The preview repaints once a layout snaps into place, so make sure you stopped scrolling on the one you want. If it still looks stuck, your edits are safe; use Undo in the top toolbar and try again, or refresh the page. Publish or save a draft once it looks right.
