Change your profile's colors

Updated June 8, 2026

Your colors set the tone of your profile. You can pick two main colors and go, or open the full set and control every surface. We can also pull colors straight from your avatar or cover image. The preview updates as you change things, and nothing is public until you publish.

Before you start

Colors live in the Designer, the panel where you change how your profile looks. You need a profile already made. To pull colors from an image, add an avatar or cover first; see add and adjust your avatar and cover image.

Opening the colors panel

  1. Open your profile.
  2. Select Edit In Designer.
  3. In the left sidebar, select Colors.

The Colors panel opens with two tabs: Simple and Pro.

Setting your two main colors

The first tab keeps it to the two colors that matter most: your page and your accent.

  1. Under Page, select the color swatch and pick a background color for the whole profile.
  2. Under Accent, select the swatch and pick the color for buttons and highlights.

As you change a background, we pick readable text to sit on it for you. The preview repaints so you can see both colors in place.

Pulling colors from your images

If you've added an avatar or cover, we pull a matching set of colors from them.

  1. On the first tab, scroll to Palettes.
  2. Select From Avatar, From Cover, Brand, or From Logo to apply that set.
  3. You can also pick one of the curated palettes shown below your image palettes.

Selecting a palette fills in your page, accent, and the other surface colors at once. Don't like it? Pick another, or use Undo in the top toolbar.

Controlling every color (Pro tab)

The Pro tab opens up all five surfaces so you can set each one by hand.

  1. Select the Pro tab.
  2. You'll see five rows: Page, Accent, Secondary, Surface, and Subtle.
  3. Select a row to expand it.
  4. Set its Background color and, if you want, its Foreground (text) color.

When you change a background, we suggest readable text for it. The Foreground picker lets you override that suggestion. Each surface controls a different layer of your profile, so change one at a time and watch the preview.

Saving your colors

Your changes are a preview until you publish.

  • Select Publish profile (or Publish changes) in the top toolbar to go live.
  • Or open the toolbar's save menu and select Save as draft to keep your edits private for now.

My text is hard to read on my new color

We pick readable text when you change a background, but a hand-picked Foreground can land too close to its background. Open the Pro tab, expand that surface, and adjust the Foreground color until the text stands out. Aim for a clear light-on-dark or dark-on-light pairing.

My palettes are empty or missing an image source

The From Avatar, From Cover, and From Logo palettes only appear once you've added that image. Add the avatar or cover first (see Add and adjust your avatar and cover image), then reopen the Colors panel. The curated palettes are always available, even with no images.

My colors didn't change in the preview

The preview repaints after each pick, so give it a moment. If it looks stuck, your edits are still safe. Use Undo in the top toolbar and try again, or refresh the page. Publish or save a draft once it looks right so the change is kept.
