Why "Profile" opens an editor, and how to view your live page

You click Profile in the menu, expecting to see your profile, and you land in an editor instead. Don't worry, you're in the right spot. That screen is the Designer, where you build your profile. This guide shows you two things: how to preview your profile the way a visitor will see it, and how to grab the plain public link you can send to anyone.

Preview your profile before you publish

The Preview button is the fast way to see your whole profile on its own, away from the Designer.

Open your profile from the Profile menu item. You'll land in the Designer.
In the toolbar above the canvas, select Preview.
Your profile opens in a new browser tab, at full width the way a visitor sees it.

Preview shows your latest saved work, and it opens even before you publish. While your profile is still private, a bar across the top reads "This is how your profile will look. It isn't published yet, so it's only visible to you." That preview is yours alone, and search engines can't see it. Select Back to editor in that bar, or switch back to the Designer tab, to carry on working.

Preview and your live page are not the same thing

These two get mixed up a lot, so here's the difference in one place.

Preview (the toolbar button) opens a private, owner-only view on the app's own address. It shows your latest saved work, published or not, and only you can open it.
Your live page is your published public profile at your own web address, like your-handle.notrouble.com. Anyone with the link can open it. You reach it with your public link, not the Preview button.

So use Preview to check your work, and hand out your public link when you want visitors. The next section shows how to grab that link.

Get the plain link to copy and send

Want the plain web address you text a friend or paste in a bio? That's your live page's link, and there are two ways to get it.

From your home dashboard, open your profile's action menu and select Copy Link. That's your real public address, ready to paste.

For a one-tap copy on a phone, tap your round avatar in the bottom bar to open the Share panel, then tap Copy. You'll see "Link copied to clipboard!" The Share panel also holds your QR code and buttons for sending the link straight to other apps. The full walk-through lives in share your profile.

Why "Profile" opens an editor, not my profile

The Profile item in the left menu opens the editor where you build and change your profile. Up the top of the left sidebar it's labelled Designer. So the menu says "Profile" but the screen is the editor. That mismatch catches almost everyone.

The short version: you build in the Designer, then publish, and your live page updates to match. You don't edit the live page directly.

My live page doesn't match my Preview

Preview shows your latest saved work, including edits you haven't published. Your live page shows only what you've published. So if your public link looks a step behind your Preview, you have edits waiting to go out.

To push them live, select Publish changes in the toolbar (or Publish profile if you haven't published yet). Once published, your live page matches your Preview.

Is my profile even live yet?

Preview opening fine doesn't mean your profile is public. Preview works even while your profile is private, so it isn't the test. The tell-tale sign: if the bar at the top of Preview says your profile isn't published yet, your live page isn't public.
