Where to find each setting: Settings vs the Designer
Updated June 9, 2026
Your profile has two places to work on it, and that trips people up. Settings holds the facts about your profile: your name, bio, links, and the like. The Designer is where you change how it looks and arrange it on screen. This guide tells you which one to open for what you want to do.
Both open from your profile in the profiles list. Each profile row has an Edit In Designer button and a Settings action.
The difference between Settings and the Designer
Think of it like writing a flyer. Settings is the typed-up content: your name, your bio, your links, your contact button. The Designer is the design table: colours, fonts, layout, and the order of everything on the page.
- Settings is a plain form. You fill in fields and select Save changes. It's the home for your written details.
- The Designer is a live preview of your profile. You change the look, drag things into order, then Publish to make those changes go live.
A few things live in both, so you can edit them wherever you happen to be. We call those out below.
Where do I add my links? Where did my links go?
Your links live in Settings, under Profile Links. Open Settings, scroll to Profile Links, select Add, and fill in the Name and URL. Select Save changes when you're done.
You can also add links in the Designer. Select the Links layer in the left sidebar, then Add link. Both places edit the same set of links, so a link you add in one shows up in the other.
If a link you added seems to have vanished, it's almost always one of these:
- You added it in the Designer but haven't selected Publish yet, so it's saved but not live.
- You're looking at the wrong screen. Links don't live in the Designer's colour or layout panels. Check Profile Links in Settings.
I can't find where to add my socials or bio
Your bio and social accounts both live in Settings.
- Bio: open Settings, find the Profile Information card at the top. The Bio field sits under your name and title.
- Social accounts: scroll down to the Social accounts card, select Add, then enter the Platform, Icon, and URL.
Both also appear in the Designer, if that's where you are. The Bio layer edits your bio, and the Links layer has a Social Media section for your socials. Wherever you edit them, it's the same content.
Where do I change colours versus links?
This is the core split, so here's the short version:
- Colours, fonts, and layout → the Designer. Colours live under the Colors control, fonts and corners live under Styles, and layout lives under the Theme control.
- Links, bio, name, and other content → Settings.
Rule of thumb: if you're changing what your profile says, you want Settings. If you're changing how it looks, you want the Designer.
Where is the action button setting?
The action button is the main call-to-action on your profile, like Book Now or Call. You can set it up in either place, and they share the same setting:
- In Settings, open the Primary Action card. Pick an Action Type, set the button label, and select Save changes.
- In the Designer, select the Header layer in the left sidebar. The Primary action section is right there, under the logo.
It's one setting in two spots. Edit it in Settings and the Designer updates to match, and editing it in the Designer flows straight back to Settings.
What's normal: changes save differently in each place
The two screens save your work in different ways, and that catches people out.
- Settings saves only when you select Save changes. Leave without saving and a prompt warns you first.
- The Designer keeps your edits as you go, but they're not live until you select Publish profile (or Publish changes). So a change can be saved yet not yet public. That's expected, not a glitch.
If you made a change and don't see it on your live profile, the usual cause is an unpublished edit in the Designer. Open it and select Publish.
