Add or update your payment method

Updated June 8, 2026

Need to put a card on file, or swap an old one for a new one? You'll do it on a secure page run by Stripe, our payment company. It's no trouble, and your card details never sit on our servers.

Before you start

You need to be signed in to the account, and you need permission to manage its billing. You'll need the card you want to use. Your card details go straight to Stripe, who handles payments for NoTrouble.

Finding your payment method

Open your Billing page. The Payment Method card on the right shows your situation:

  • If a card is on file, you'll see its type (like VISA) and the last four digits.
  • If no card is on file, you'll see "No payment method on file."

Adding your first card

If you don't have a card on file yet:

  1. On the Payment Method card, select Add Card.
  2. This opens your billing page on Stripe, in a new view.
  3. Enter your card number, expiry date, and security code.
  4. Select the save or confirm button on Stripe's page.

When you come back, your Billing page shows the new card's type and last four digits. That's how you know it saved.

Updating or replacing your card

If a card is already on file and you want to change it:

  1. On the Payment Method card, select Update Card.
  2. This opens the Stripe billing page, where you can add a new card and set it as your default.
  3. Save your changes on Stripe's page.

Back on your Billing page, the card type and last four digits update to match your new card.

Why does it send me to Stripe?

Stripe is the company that handles payments for NoTrouble. Sending you to their secure page means your full card number is handled by them, not stored by us. You'll see "Powered by Stripe" on that page. It's safe, and it's the same place your invoices live.

I don't see an Add Card or Update Card button

Two things can cause this:

  • You may not have billing permission for this account. Ask the account owner to add a card, or to give you billing access.
  • Payments may be set up only after you choose a paid plan. If you're on the Free plan and have never subscribed, add your card during checkout instead. See upgrade to a paid plan.

The Stripe page won't load or times out

This is almost always a brief hiccup, not a lost card. Try again in a minute. If your internet dropped or the page hung, close it and select Update Card again from your Billing page. If it keeps failing, your card on file still works in the meantime.

My new card was declined

If your bank turns the card down, your old card stays on file and active. Common causes:

  • A typo in the card number, expiry, or security code. Check each and try again.
  • Your bank blocked the charge, or the card has no room. Use another card, or call your bank.
  • The billing address doesn't match what your bank has. Update it and try again.
